Private Schools in Wales

There are 16 Private Schools in Wales which take pupils of secondary school age, many of which also have primary and nursery schools as well. Out of these 16 schools 12 are academically selective, meaning pupils must undergo an admissions process involving a face to face interview, formal examination or both. The 4 schools which are not selective are: Castle School, Ffynone House School, St Clare’s school and St David’s College.

The majority (15 out of the 16 schools) offer some form of bursary or scholarship for pupils coming from financially challenged backgrounds. This allows pupils who show academic potential but for whatever reason cannot fully afford the tuition fees to have a chance at staying on. The school which does not offer financial assistance is the Castle School in Pembrokeshire.
