Westbourne is a mixed day and boarding school based in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Founded in 1896, it sits close to the holiday town of Penarth. The school caters for boys and girls from the age of 3 and has a thriving sixth-form community. The school’s ethos is based on providing caring, family-like community that enables students to achieve their full potential. Within in this the school aims to provide a challenging curriculum that encourages independent learning, team work and active, compassionate individuals who understand the needs of others.
There are currently 141 students on roll, including those in the sixth form and a student to teacher ratio of 8:1. Children are taught in classes of no more than 20 students, with individual subjects typically taught in classes of between 6 and 8 students. Over 80% of students gain access to their first choice university, with 90% of graduates gaining places in Russell Group universities, as well as University of Ferrara, Maastricht University, and Cambridge.
