Wyclif Independent Christian School is a mixed day school based in Caerphilly, Wales. Founded in 1982, it sits over three sites in the village of Machen and caters for children from the age of 4. It is based on an ethos of mainstream evangelical principles and concepts. The school aims to develop children spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially and physically through practical Christian living and a strong spiritual framework.
School curriculum is based on resources from A Beka Book, a Christian curriculum resource from USA. Emphasis in the primary school on building strong literacy and numeracy skills. Students also experience teaching in science, history, geography, personal health, Bible studies, art, PE and modern foreign language. In the middle school this work continues and close links with the senior department are forged. Additional areas of study in the senior years include English literature, individual sciences, religious studies, humanities and ICT. All teaching takes place within a Christian perspective. Students in the sixth form have greater freedom, and therefore greater responsibility for their own studies, and supporting younger students at the school. A and AS Level qualifications are offered in the sixth form.
The school is situated on three different sites in the Caerphilly Village of Machen, about 12 miles from Cardiff. It can be reached via the A48 (M) as well as local bus services.
