Strathallan is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged between 9 and 18 years. It is located 7 miles from the Scottish city of Perth and surrounded by the beautiful Perthshire countryside. Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are within easy travelling distance, assisting pupils from Scotland, the rest of the UK and overseas in getting to the school.
Upon arrival at the school, all Strathallan pupils are placed into Houses. Junior school pupils enter Riley, a House specifically for them. There are seven Houses for senior school pupils: Freeland, Glenbrae, Nicol, Ruthven, Simpson, Thornbank and Woodlands. Each House is led by a Housemaster or Housemistress and a group of prefects and has its own facilities as well as accommodation for boarding pupils. Throughout the school year, pupils have the opportunity to represent their Houses in a variety of different activities. The house system is operated at Strathallan to give each pupil experience of co-operation and working as part of a team, which are useful life skills.
Entry to Strathallan Junior School (aged 9 to 12 years) is by assessment and existing school report. Senior school pupils must sit either the Open Scholarship Examination or the Common Entrance Exam. Prospective Sixth Form students may sit the Sixth Form Entrance Exam. At this stage GCSE/Standard Level results are taken in to consideration.
