The Mary Erskine School is an all-girls day and boarding school which admits pupils between the ages of 12 and 17. It is situated in Edinburgh and maintains strong links with its partner school, Stewart’s Melville, incorporating a co-educational House system.
Staff at Mary Erskine’s are committed to teaching children to become independent learners. Across the junior and senior girls and boys’ schools, there is a dedicated teaching staff of over 220. There is also a concerted commitment to including parents in the education of their child wherever possible.
The school consistently achieves excellent exam results and many pupils go on to top universities across the UK and beyond. However, Mary Erskine’s recognises that academic challenges are only one aspect of life at school. For this reason, they instil a particular set of values in their pupils and these are displayed prominently around the school: integrity, confidence, appreciation, grace, responsibility, enthusiasm, commitment, respect and kindness. These assist the girls in becoming well-rounded members of society.
