Belmont House School, located in Glasgow, is a co-educational institution committed to providing high quality education which is tailored to individual needs. The school has a strong focus on keeping class sizes small and providing maximum teacher to pupil attention. The school has a policy of capping classes at a maximum of 20 pupils, but in reality most classes are much smaller than this.
An important factor which differentiates Belmont House from others is their tutor system. Each pupil is assigned their own tutor whilst at the school, who is their dedicated point of contact. Tutors are available for any matter needing discussion at all, not just academic issues or disciplinary matters. In fact the school sets up several ‘interviews’ per year, in which each student can confidentially discuss their development and wellbeing. In these interviews the pupil’s achievements to date are discussed (not only restricted to academic matters). This then allows the tutor to identify the student’s strengths and weaknesses and a positive development plan can be put together to help the child achieve their goals.
The school (as with many) has a strong focus on academic achievement, but also on personal development as well. Each pupil’s individual strengths and areas of promise are nurtured, ensuring they leave as the best individual they can be. The school grounds itself on 7 core values which are: Commitment, Co-operation, Sense of identity, Individuality, Reliability, Respect and Responsibility.
